Fact: over 90% of dog parents around the world feed their pups dry, commercial pet food (a.k.a. kibble). But here’s the problem: kibble is over-processed, made with low-quality ingredients, and often indigestible! It was born in 1964 purely out of Big Pet Food’s desire to cut costs and increase profits.
Many dogs get some form of dental disease in their lifetime — roughly the same percentage who eat dry food. Most are overweight or obese. Half over the age of 10 will develop cancer — but most won’t make it past that age to begin with.
We’ve come to rely on pet food labels and what’s pictured on the bag or can. But it turns out, ingredient label tricks allow companies to mislead consumers, and numerous studies have found pet foods to contain ingredients not listed on their label, or missing those they claim to use. (Think: packaging of idyllic fields and vibrant vegetables).
While the picture on the bag suggests that the brown pellet inside was made with a gorgeous roast chicken breast, the reality can instead be diseased chicken parts, mixed with starchy fillers, and processed at temperatures known to produce carcinogens.
Pet food should be…food. Not burnt brown balls.
Just think about how much better we humans feel on a natural diet of high-quality proteins and fresh fruits n’ veggies. Well, it’s the same for your fur friend! Just adding a few veg to make their kibbles healthier, doesn't. Feeding fresh food has long lasting health benefits for your pet, that includes fewer trips to the vet!
Our mission is to reshape an industry built around a highly processed and unnatural diet. In a world where kibble is designed to sit on a shelf for months, nutrition comes second. WildChow is flipping the status quo and putting nutrition first.
WildChow's meals are made from 100% gourmet-quality prime muscle meat (yes, they are the same quality as the meats supplied to local restaurants) as the core ingredient, balanced with purposeful whole food ingredients.
AS NATURE INTENDED
In the wild, dogs and cats survive on primarily meats to meet their nutritional needs, and they have a biological need for a high protein diet. WildChow food is formulated based on a species-appropriate diet so products in our range are prepared fresh, with prime meats at the forefront of all of our recipes to deliver important vitamins and minerals.
Our big rule is feed fresh & variety. We encourage you to try any of our meals and rotate in between proteins, so your pets are 1) exposed to the vastly beneficial nutrients from different animals and 2) reduce their risk of food allergies and intolerances.
NO DODGY INGREDIENTS
Protein sources in dry food that have not been approved for human consumption, are much lower quality than fresh, unaltered, lean, human grade meats. Many commercial pet food manufacturers use corn (like cattle feed), corn remnants, even corn meal dust - nothing like the luscious kind you and I eat. Cheap fillers like beet pulp / soy are often used to add bulk.
With fresh food you can always see how much meat and fresh produce is used, whereas most commercial dog foods are extremely processed and can be loaded with hidden ingredients and additives that have been known to cause health issues.
WildChow uses only whole food ingredients, each clearly labelled for peace of mind, no guesswork or sweeping statements to vaguely suggest any group of ingredients.
Time to break up with kibbles!
BETTER SKIN, COAT & SOFTER CUDDLES
Many dogs suffer from skin issues like itching, rashes, shedding and dry coats. While pet parents often chalk these symptoms up to allergies, many skin problems can be caused by the large amounts of fillers in processed, dry dog food.Fresh, nutrient-rich diets with essential fatty acids (usually a balance of omega 3, 6, and 9) improve skin and hydrate coats, leaving dogs so soft you’ll never want to kick them out of bed.
HUMAN GRADE, ALWAYS
You won't want to be served mystery meat. Neither would your furkids.
We search far and wide for human-grade top quality ingredients for your pets, and care about how they are grown and harvested. All our meats and produce are sourced from human-grade suppliers, yes, the same ones you'd get at your local butcheries and gourmet restaurants. No such thing as the 4-D (meats from dead, dying, diseased, disabled animals). Seriously????!!!
Still not convinced? You might want to read up this article on the detrimental food, or rather, crap, you might be feeding your dog.
HEALTHIER DIGESTION, AND POO
Many ingredient lists on commercial pet food bags bulk up the protein percentages and don’t clarify the quantity of each ingredient. This means that the healthiest-sounding ingredients could be used in negligible amounts. Similarly, when a pet food bag claims that it contains 30% protein, it doesn’t mean it’s all digestible.Your pet’s system wasn’t designed to consume the bulk of the ingredients found in dry food, and they end up turning into (smelly) heaps of waste.
Switching to fresh, highly digestible, human-grade food results in smaller, less stinky poos. Food is digested properly, nutrients are directly absorbed.
The effects of this simple switch may seem like magic, but there’s no trick. It’s just the power of real food.
